The “Occupy Wall Street” protests are spreading across the country, as millions take a stand against economic inequality. In San Francisco, eleven protesters were arrested after shutting down all entrances to the Wells Fargo corporate headquarters. Reuters reports that the arrests were made to allow bankers into the corporate portion of the building.
In New York City, Mayor Mike Bloomberg is telling protesters that they must leave the lower Manhattan park, which is currently being used as their demonstration hub. The city says the three weeks of protests have caused unsanitary conditions and protesters may return once the park is cleaned up. This comes as the Occupy Wall Street movement is drawing attention overseas. Iran’s top leader said yesterday that the wave of protests reflect a serious problem that will ultimately topple capitalism in America.
