The Rev. Franklin Graham, who appeared on Morning Joe on February 21 to discuss faith and politics, has now apologized for some of the remarks he made on the show. This is according to a report posted on the Religious News Service site.

Graham talked with Morning Joe's Willie Geist, msnbc contributor and Morning Joe regular Mike Barnicle, New York Magazine's John Heilemann and msnbc's Alex Wagner about the faiths of the 2012 GOP candidates as well as President Obama's faith.

When asked by Geist if he believed President Obama is a Christian, Graham remarked by saying:

Well, I think you’ll have to ask President Obama. You can ask me ‘Do I believe you’re a Christian?’ I think the best thing for a person is to ask you directly, so I think people have to ask Barack Obama. He’s come out saying that he’s a Christian, so I think the question is ‘What is a Christian?’

But Graham later said he did believe both Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich were Christians. And when asked about Mitt Romney's faith, Graham said: "Most Christians would not recognize Mormonism as part of the Christian faith."

Here is some of Graham's apology.

"I regret any comments I have ever made which may have cast any doubt on the personal faith of our president, Mr. Obama," he said in a statement."I apologize to him and to any I have offended for not better articulating my reason for not supporting him in this election -- for his faith has nothing to do with my consideration of him as a candidate."
