Gov. Christie to Romney: Time to move on!

The reliably brazen Chris Christie had a reality check for his 2012 election buddy Mitt Romney: you lost!

The reliably brazen Chris Christie had a reality check for his 2012 election buddy Mitt Romney: you lost!

The New Jersey governor spoke plainly on Romney's post-election drama after the defeated GOP presidential candidate blamed his loss on the "gifts" President Obama gave to minority, women, and young voters.

"I always think this is kind of scapegoating after elections," Christie said on Morning Joe Friday. "When you lose, you lost."

Christie added that it was time to "pivot" and "move on" from the campaign.

"So someone the other day asked me 'why did Romney lose?' I said it's because he got less votes than Barack Obama. That's why," Christie added.

Christie, who after extending a bipartisan olive branch to President Obama in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, is already expected to put his hat into the 2016 presidential ring. The New Jersey governor has denied any substance behind the chatter.

"Mitt Romney's a friend of mine and I understand that he is very upset about having lost the election, and very disappointed," Christie said. "But I'm not going to bury the guy for it."
