The all-male panel on Lou Dobbs Tonight expressed outrage after hearing that a study found that 40% of households with children are supported primarily by moms.
“Three quarters of the people surveyed recognized that having moms as the primary breadwinner is bad for kids and marriage and reality shows us that is the truth,” Red State editor Erick Erickson said, seeming to refer to the 74% of respondents who said that working moms would make raising children harder. “Look at the natural world, the roles of a male and a female in society in other animals, the male is typically is the dominant role. The female is not antithesis or competing, it’s a complimentary role.”
Hunter-mother lionesses clearly become unnatural under this reasoning, too.
“You’re seeing the disintegration of marriage. You’re seeing men who were hard hit by the economic recession in ways women weren’t,” added Juan Williams, Fox political analyst.
Men suffered in the early part of the recession when industries like construction were hard hit by the housing crisis. But women suffered too, particularly later in the recession when industries like education and health care started to hurt.
“Bottom line, it could undermine our social order,” summed up Doug Schoen, another political analyst for the network.
