But first, the future of work. We've come to look forward to Labor Day for the discount shopping, barbecues, and a three-day weekend. But more than a century since the first observance of the holiday created by the labor movement, it's also a moment to remember the hard-won rights we've come to enjoy in the workplace. On this Labor Day Sunday, we’ll discuss the modern “Uber” economy and the increasingly uneven relationship between the worker and the boss.
Then: Race Talk. The Black Lives Matter movement seems to have a growing number of critics in the wake of recent attacks on police. Melissa Harris-Perry will discuss what happens when movements like Black Lives Matter, and the Black Panthers before them, directly confront and challenge the State’s use of violence. We’ll also examine the response of police officers, elected officials, and even presidential candidates to the Black Lives Matter movement. Our guests for this conversation include:
