This Sunday on MHP, Americans seek to close the wealth gap. As 2016 contenders up the populist rhetoric, a new poll shows that the vast majority of Americans want government to actively address income inequality. Even as the economy has recovered, the public believes its impact has been uneven – According to a new CBS News/NY Times poll, 66 percent believe wealth should be more evenly distributed and 67% percent think the gap between the rich and the poor is growing. The poll also reports that 57 percent want the government to do something about it and 68 percent – including 53 percent of Republicans think taxes should be raised for those who make more than $1 million per year.

Then, it’s the woman who has everyone talking. Caitlyn Jenner made her introduction to the world on the cover of Vanity Fair last week. Caitlyn has lived her life in the spotlight, first as an Olympic decathlete and later as a reality television star. “I'm so happy after such a long struggle to be living my true self,” Caitlyn tweeted to her 2.2 million followers. Her debut has been a catalyst in the ongoing conversation on trans issues, and we will explore just how far support for trans people has come in the past few years.

Joining Melissa are:

  • Cherno Biko, Creative Director of We Happy Trans
  • Mara Keisling, Executive Director of the National Center for Transgender Equality
  • Carlos Maza, LGBT Program Director at Media Matters for America

Then, you better brush up your “Truffle Shuffle” because it’s all about “The Goonies.” It’s been three decades since Gen X’s favorite band of preteens swashbuckled their way into theaters (and our hearts), and we’re bringing in Corey Feldman, aka “Mouth” to talk about what makes “The Goonies” such an enduring classic.  And, we’ll hear from some of the superfans who gathered at the film’s location of Astoria, Oregon to celebrate its 30th anniversary.

Plus, FIFA Women’s World Cup, Master Chef and more.
