One word was at the center of a political clash on the Democratic debate stage Thursday night: Progressivism. Both presidential candidates Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton have touted their progressive resumes, but what exactly is progressivism? Melissa talks about the history of the movement and what it’s become today.

The Flint water crisis has become a national story which has attracted the attention of political figures like Hillary Clinton. She will be going to Flint, Michigan Sunday in response to an invitation from the mayor. But lead exposure isn’t just a problem for Flint. Several other cities have reported higher levels of lead exposure than Flint. Melissa and her panel will take a closer look at the appropriate policy response. 

Also feminism and the 2016 race. We’ll take a closer look at a new survey from the Washington Post and the Kaiser Family Foundation that examines just how Americans think about feminism.   

Recently, the World Health Organization declared the Zika virus outbreak an international public health emergency. Many cases have been reported in South America and in some Latin American countries, women are being told to avoid getting pregnant. The crisis has sparked a growing debate about countries with restrictive laws around contraception and abortion.
