Allentown mayor to run for Governor

Ed Pawlowski, mayor of Allentown, Pennsylavania, announced on Melissa Harris-Perry  Sunday that he will run for Governor in 2014.

Ed Pawlowski, mayor of Allentown, Pennsylavania, announced on Melissa Harris-Perry  Sunday that he will run for Governor in 2014.

"We have a very diverse set of issues. It's a big state," Pawlowski said of leading a state with both heavy urban and very rural communities.

Pawlowski, the two-term mayor of the state's third largest city, told Harris-Perry that he would be making a formal announcement on Monday, and that he plans to visit 20 counties in nine days to kick off his campaign push. He also highlighted his successful efforts to improve the former factory town's economy and improve the quality of life for city residents.

There are already a number of other Democrats competing for the chance to unseat current Republican governor Tom Corbett.
