Let me finish tonight with this.
The US policy in the Arab world is up in the air tonight.
We used to be able to count on our allies in the region: Egypt, Jordan, moderate Palestinians.
We used to count on a group of countries that were mischievous and rejectionist but were no strategic threat to our ally Israel - Iraq, Syria.
Today we face question marks in all those countries - if not now, at some point in the future.
The challenge from Iran remains, of course, as it has for awhile, ever since the overthrow of the Shah.
The question now for us is a huge one - how to settle down a region than seems increasingly prone to blowing its top.
President Obama, Secretary of State Kerry and the rest of the American team better give this one all they've got.
