Let Me Start: Obama to address DNC winter meeting

From the president's upcoming DNC speech to the Academy Awards, here are a few headlines we're reading today...

MAKING THE CASE: "The president will address the winter meeting of the Democratic National Committee in Washington with the aim of maintaining a spirit of unity among party activists. Democrats are trying to face down emboldened Republicans who see a chance of capturing the Senate and building on their majority in the House of Representatives." (Retuers)

REVVING UP THE MACHINE: "The final question, about her future plans, brought a roar of approval from the crowd of several thousand students and faculty and a throaty laugh from Clinton. Surely, it was suggested, she has had time to ponder her next move. Revealing nothing, Clinton smiled and said, “I will certainly ponder that.”" (LA Times)

BEHIND THE ABSCAM SCANDAL: "The Oscar-nominated film "American Hustle" has put the spotlight back on Philadelphia. It's loosely based on one of the biggest political shakedowns in our area. Now a local politician caught in that scandal is telling his story.

The investigation was called ABSCAM and at the time it brought down the mayor of Camden, members of Philadelphia City Council, a U.S. Senator and 6 members of Congress including Philadelphia's Ozzie Myers." (ABC 6
