Mitt Under Attack...

Mitt Under Attack... The remaining Republican presidential candidates ganged up on Mitt Romney at last night's debate in a last-ditch attempt to prevent the former Massachusetts governor from coasting to the nomination. The called on him to release his tax records, they questioned his commitment to conservative causes and they urged him to explain whether Bain Capital created or destroyed jobs. By the way, the New York Times also calls on Romney to release his taxes -- something Nixon and Obama did when they ran for president.

Rick Santorum's up with his first attack ad against Romney. After promising to take the high ground, Santorum tries to link Romney with Pres. Obama on health care, bailouts and social issues.

Nate Silver at the New York Times' Fivethirtyeight blog analyzes the new national poll numbers. And while Romney has an overwhelming lead, the total of the three conservatives in the race - Gingrich, Santorum and Perry -- exceeds Romney's numbers. And therein lies the conundrum for the far right: The three-way split is allowing Romney to waltz to the nomination unscathed.
