Mike Bloomberg may be a billionaire, media mogul and leader of the world’s most popular city. But bilingual? Not necessarily.
Hardball host Chris Matthews poked fun at New York City’s mayor, who addressed Spanish-speaking New Yorkers on television this week about Hurricane Sandy and its aftermath.
Matthews said that while Bloomberg’s performance was admirable, many still think the politician’s “linguistic skills are lacking.”
He then played a clip of the mayor bungling the language.
“Wow, anyway, room for improvement,” chided Matthews, noting Bloomberg’s recent press conference sparked the resurgence of the “El Bloombito” Twitter feed.
The account, which spoofs on the experience of listening to the mayor speaking Spanish, posted a timely Tweet saying, “If tu need to vamos anywhere use un cab de gypsy or un glider de hang!”
