President Obama will focus on the economy at the White House Monday, marking the fifth anniversary of the financial crisis, one day after Larry Summers told the president he would take his name out of the running to replace Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke.

In the opinion pages: The Wall Street Journal editorial board believes Summers' decision is a good one.  The New York Times editorial board thinks there's a reason for hope within the U.S.-Russia agreement on Syria.
