All In Agenda: Beyond the breaking point

All In Agenda for May 21, 2014.

1. Who or what broke the V.A. to the point of allegations of mismanagement and "cooked books?" Chris Hayes takes a look at the hidden cost of war tonight with Senator Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., Chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs.

2. Next up: Chris reports on today's Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing on the scope of the Authorization for Use of Military Force-- which keeps the U.S. on war footing until it is repealed. Richard Clarke, Chief Counterterrorism Advisor to the National Security Council under President George W. Bush, joins us.

3. Why, exactly, was it "Time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee?" We're closer to solving that mystery tonight.

4. Plus, Analillia Mejia, Executive Director of the New Jersey Working Families Alliance, joins All In to talk about Gov. Chris Christie's decision to "pull back nearly $900 million that had been earmarked for the state’s teetering pension system, reversing his earlier promises to increase those pension contributions and provoking further scrutiny of the state’s credit rating."

5. And don't miss our deep-dive into Medicaid expansion in the conservative heartland. It's part of our new series, "All In America." Texas Democratic State Senator Leticia Van de Putte, a candidate for lieutenant governor who is running with Texas State Senator Wendy Davis, and former Governor of Vermont, former Chairman of the DNC and CNBC Political Analyst, Howard Dean, are here to talk about it.
