1. #playintegratedprom is the hashtag The Root has created to generate ideas for bands to play Wilcox County High School's first ever integrated prom. Here's to hoping Beyonce shows up to belt one--or many more than one--out.

2. One grandmother, Nancy Zorn, locked herself to a piece of heavy machinery in Oklahoma to protest the construction of the Keystone X-L pipeline. Her act of civil disobedience is in direct response to the recent tar sands pipeline spill in Mayflower, Arkansas.

3. Fellow msnbc anchor, Melissa Harris-Perry, has a new ad up where she says of raising children: "Once it's everybody's responsibility and not just the household's, then we start making better investments." This is not a new or novel idea---Hillary Clinton wrote a book about it in 1996.  But Harris-Perry's relatively benign statement has sent the right into a furious uproar. Watch our response and read hers.
