Tribal leaders are calling on the incoming Biden Administration to appoint a Native American to lead the Department of the Interior, which oversees the treaties with tribal nations that have consistently been broken by the U.S. government. As one of the first two Native American women elected to Congress, Rep. Deb Haaland has been suggested for the role and says of Biden, “It’s exciting that he’s working to make his administration look like America.”
