For the last three elections, Trump has made villainizing immigrants central to his campaign message. His two major promises on immigration are to build a wall, and to carry out the largest deportation operation in the history of the nation. But Project 2025 goes even farther than that. Not only does it aim to militarize the border, it aims to use every lever of government to find, detain, and deport undocumented people - including implementing child and family detention centers. Award-winning journalist Paola Ramos says these cruel policy proposals fix nothing - and maybe that’s the point. When the rhetorical strategy of fear-mongering over a broken system has worked for you... fixing the problem is certainly not the objective. They are “explicitly trying to be cruel,” says Ramos.Aug. 25, 2024
