"2 Guns" barreled into first at the box office this weekend with a gross of $27.4 million. It ranked fifth all-time in megastar Denzel Washington’s opening weekend movie repertoire. Mediocre movie reviews, however, will likely spike its hope to score a $100 million box office run.

Speaking of guns, Hugh Jackman’s secured "The Wolverine" a second place position with an estimated $21.7 million.

Despite Britney Spears singing the movie’s theme song, the "Smurfs 2" opened to disappointing $27.8 million through its first five days and claimed third place. International audiences are expected to embrace the little blue people and revive its total earnings.

"The Conjuring" continued to conjure its creepy hold on the box office and finished fourth. It is projected to end its run at around $130 million. The not so frightening, yet financially potent, minions of "Despicable Me 2" rounded out the weekend’s Top Five.

Woody Allen’s new picture out in limited release, "Blue Jasmine," staring Cate Blanchett and Alec Baldwin, collected $2.02 million. "Blue Jasmine" will have to go a long way to outearn Allen's top grossing movie, "Midnight in Paris," which brought in nearly $57 million two years ago.
