Saturday, President Obama announced that he will seek congressional approval for striking Syria. Obama spoke after Secretary of State John Kerry laid out an argument that Bashir al-Assad's regime used chemical weapons on its own citizens, killing hundreds of children and 1,429 people in total.
Kerry announced Sunday that tests conducted on hair and blood samples from Syria tested positive for traces of sarin gas. Both Democrats and Republicans seem torn on authorizing military action and House Speaker John Boehner said Congress would take up the resolution when recess ends September 9th.
Saturday, Retired Col. Jack Jacobs laid out a possible military strategy should the U.S. decide to strike Syria and highlighted possible targets. Jacobs pointed out airfields, "the first target for any attack", he says, as well as brigades commanded by Assad's brother.
