It wasn’t so long ago that reproductive rights were a key part of the Republican party platform. Recently passed laws in states from Texas to Ohio to North Carolina will drastically roll back access to reproductive care, but it wasn’t until 1980 that an anti-abortion plank was added to the GOP’s official platform

When Republicans abandoned its pro-choice, pro-Equal Rights Amendment wing, it created a gender gap that has never closed. Steve Kornacki spent part of Sunday’s Up tracing the GOP’s road from Gerald Ford and Women’s Equality Day to Rick Perry and TRAP laws.
