Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts revealed on Sunday that she is gay.

In a Facebook post sharing what she is grateful for in 2013, Roberts wrote: "I am grateful for my entire family, my long time girlfriend, Amber, and friends as we prepare to celebrate a glorious new year together."

This is the first time Roberts publicly acknowledged her sexual orientation.

ABC News issued a statement said on Sunday following Roberts’ post: “We love Robin and Amber, who we have all known for a long time. We were so touched by Robin’s Facebook message today and so thankful for all the loving support she has in her life.”

Roberts returned to Good Morning America earlier this year after a six-month medical leave of absence to undergo a bone marrow transplant.

In her Facebook post, Roberts also expressed gratitude for her sister, who was her donor, and to "God, my doctors and nurses for my restored health." She also thanked her fans for their prayers.
