T-Paw drops the Lady Gaga line

07/07/11 06:40PM

Put your T-Paws up! Former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty turned the tables on a group of pop culture bloggers yesterday in Iowa. During an interview, he asked them about their fave Lady Gaga song. (Because why would you want to talk about your leadership record of a state that’s currently closed for business?)In a blatant effort to appear “hip” and “connected with the youth,” T-Paw started rambling on and on about how the awesomeness of Mother Monster.“Well you know, in terms of the beat, I like ‘Bad Romance,’” Pawlenty said. read more

07/07/11 04:28PM

After today's "constructive" meeting President Obama observed "people were frank" as they discussed compromises both parties would make in order to raise the debt ceiling. Congressional leadership and White House officials will continue hammering out "painful details" throughout the weekend and meet again on Sunday.Just imagine sitting in the Cabinet Room today. Listening in on the possible fates of important entitlement programs and the national tax code. read more

Impeachment by invoking the 14th?

07/06/11 07:28PM

We've tossed around the idea ourselves here at The Last Word. Is there any emergency way out for President Obama if no compromise has been reached over the debt ceiling? Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner himself recently noted a clause in the 14th Amendment that states U.S. public debt "shall not be questioned."One Republican congressman floated the "I" word in response the potential loophole Obama could use to side-step Congress on the debt ceiling."This president is looking to usurp congressional oversight to find a way to get it done without us. read more
