Truth Wins Out, a gay rights group, went undercover at the counseling center, and a video shows that staffers are using prayer and Bible scriptures to help “cure” people of homosexuality.Marcus Bachmann has denied their clinic tries turn gay people straight. Flickr user “colarusso” saw similarities between the doomed fail whale on Twitter and the current divide between politicians, both of which tend to aggravate people when they aren't working properly.The photo caption reads, "I wanted a visual expression of my frustration with partisan gridlock in Washington, and this is what I came up with. It was sparked by the talks surrounding the debt ceiling."Maybe it's symbolic of hope — those bald eagles (of Liberty?) are managing to carry the heavy load in spite of everything. read more

Moody's isn't messing around

Another warning shot was fired today against the U.S. over its failure to raise the debt ceiling. Moody's Investors Service threatened to lower America's credit rating  due to the rising risk the government will default on its debt.The credit rating agency said it plans to review the fed’s top triple-A bond rating because lawmakers haven’t been able to reach a deal over increasing the nation's $14.3 trillion borrowing limit to avoid a default. (Hate to mention it, but it's not turning out so well for Greece, Ireland and Portugal).We technically hit this magic debt marker back in May. read more
