Republican leaders delayed tonight's vote on the revised Budget Control Act because they don't have the votes needed to pass the bill.In a press conference today, House minority leader Nancy Pelosi promised "it will not pass." She said voters "can just kiss Medicare goodbye" under Speaker John Boehner's proposed plan. Senator John McCain has provoked the ire of some on the right for reading parts of this Wall Street Journal editorial that refers to Tea Party Republicans as hobbits. The House just delayed the hotly anticipated vote on Boehner debt plan this evening. While Speaker Boehner’s scrambles for the 216 votes, Sarah Palin tweeted out a message to House freshmen, who are being widely being blamed for the current no-compromise, take no prisoners atmosphere in the debt ceiling debate. (H/T WSJ's Jonathan Weisman).Palin links to her Facebook page, which displays an open letter she wrote to GOP freshmen right after the 2010 midterm election. In the note titled "For Such A Time As This," she added emphasis in the parts she wants frosh to re-consider. read more
