A so-called birther bill is now in Arizona Governor Jan Brewer’s hands. State lawmakers approved a bill requiring all presidential candidates to prove U.S. citizenship before appearing on the state ballot. It cleared the state House in a 40-16 vote late-yesterday, and the state Senate on Wednesday.Arizona would become the first state to go to this extreme. You already need to be a natural born citizen to run for office, as any first-grader can probably tell you.Birther conspiracy theorists say President Obama wasn’t actually born in Hawaii. read more
