Mitt Romney is picking his battles differently than his 2008 run for the White House. After this week’s release of promising poll results, the former Massachusetts governor announced last night he won't participate in the Iowa Republican straw poll set for August 13."We respect the straw poll process. In the last presidential campaign we were both strengthened as an organization and learned some important lessons by participating in them," Romney campaign spokesman Matt Rhoades said in a written statement. read more

Alaskan officials released thousands of Sarah Palin's emails today, highlighting her brief stint as governor.The emails — totaling 24,199 worth of pages — cover the period from the time she took office in December 2006 to her boost up GOP ladder to vice presidential nominee in September 2008. The emails were sent and received by Palin's personal and state accounts, though only those deemed state business related were actually released to the public.Citizens and news organizations requested the emails as a vetting tool during the 2008 White House race. read more

Clinton denies World Bank rumors

Hillary Clinton's camp shot down a Reuters report, claiming the Secretary of State "wants the job" as the head of the World Bank. Current president Robert Zoellick is scheduled to vacate his post when his term ends in mid-2012.Clinton spokesperson Philippe Reines called the story "completely untrue." Reines said she hasn’t talked to President Obama "or anyone else about moving to the World Bank. She has expressed absolutely no interest in the job. read more
