Romney and the chocolate box analogy

Updated

Jon Stewart summed up Willard M. Romney’s history of being picked over for someone else on the 2012 campaign trail, Forrest Gump style. The candidate has been the perpetual number two choice, and can never seem to pull ahead — unless it’s with a narrow lead of eight votes.

The Daily Show host likened the Republican Party’s seeming resistance to try out every single candidate to trying “every chocolate in the box.” Right now, they’re at the chocolate-covered cherry stage of Rick Santorum. Eventually, he warned, the GOP will end up with the bland piece of chocolate, Romney, whether they like it or not.
