Poll: Obama leads, economy a weak spot

A newly released NBC News-Wall Street Journal poll shows Mitt Romney losing to President Obama by six points in a general head-to-head match-up, putting President Obama at 49 percent and Romney at 43 percent.

When you get down to gritty details, the numbers suggest Romney would get crushed on relating to regular people. For instance, when asked to pick the person "who is compassionate enough to understand average people," 52 percent said Obama and 23 percent said Romney. Obama's got the general likeability factor down.

The economy, however, seems to be Obama's weak spot. Out of the respondents, 40 percent believe Romney would do a better job of improving the economy compared to 34 percent for Obama.
