Unleashing another manufactured-crisis showdown at the 11th hour, House Republicans rebelled against the temporary extension of payroll tax cuts. This time, it's right around Christmas — a holiday most of them would undoubtedly prefer to be spending with their families.

We're guessing President Obama would prefer to be with his family in Hawaii. Instead, he's back in D.C. hanging with Bo, ordering pizza and waiting to sign new payroll tax legislation. The pair also hit up Best Buy and PetSmart for a little last-minute holiday shopping.

The first family's pet drew criticism from the right-wing today, as critics attacked his appearance on the Obama family's holiday greeting card.

So much for the saying, "if you want a friend in Washington, get a dog."
