Willard M. Romney mocked President Obama today for his upcoming vacation on Martha's Vineyard.
When discussing Obama's soon-to-be-released economic plan, the former Massachusetts governor called it "too little too late" but added, "we appreciate the fact that he's going to devote some time to it. Not just going to be on his bus tour, not just going to be vacationing in Martha's Vineyard, but giving some thought to the American people."
Romney criticized the president's time off by telling a Chicago radio station, "If I were president, I wouldn't be looking to spend ten days on Martha's Vineyard."
Turns out the Republican presidential candidate will be on island at the same time as Obama. On August 27, Romney is scheduled to attend a $2,500-per-person fundraiser, which happens to coincide with the first family's vacay.
Team Romney says the one-day trip is purely for work, and not vacation. And not a bad time to be working there, I might add — late-August on The Vineyard? Gorgeous. That's almost as nice as Newt Gingrich's upcoming "fundraising" trip to Hawaii.
