msnbc host Lawrence O’Donnell answered questions in a live chat earlier today about the latest in the negotiations over raising the debt ceiling. With four days left to reach a deal, negotiations are still at a stalemate.
From 1989 to 1992, Lawrence O’Donnell served as a senior advisor to Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan. From 1993 through 1995 he was Chief of Staff to the Senate Finance Committee and led the Senate’s tax-writing committee during the consideration of President Bill Clinton’s first budget.
More recently, he’s earned the nickname of #nostralawrence on Twitter for predicting the looming debt ceiling issue during msnbc’s 2010 election night coverage.

This control of caucus has become a mythology. Most pundits are still trapped in the old concept that a Speaker could control the party. No one could do a better job of controlling the Republican caucus in the House than Boehner has done because it is an uncontrollable caucus made uncontrollable by the realities of modern politics and by the tea party. I think Boehner has done the best job possible leading the most ridiculous collection of Republicans to have populated the House of Representatives in my lifetime.
