Lawrence on Romney’s RNC performance

Updated
While accepting the Republican presidential nomination on Thursday, Mitt Romney promised to steer Americans to a brighter and more prosperous future, past the “disappointments” under President Obama.

“I wish President Obama had succeeded because I want America to succeed. But his promises gave way to disappointment and division,” Romney said during his speech to the RNC in Tampa, Florida. “This isn’t something we have to accept. Now is the moment when we can do something. With your help we will do something.”

Lawrence O’Donnell called it his best speech yet.

The former Massachusetts generally played it safe in his address, refraining from delving into specific policy initiatives to not any swing voters. (Todd Akin who?) Instead, he cast himself as the loving family man and CEO who can put American back to work.
