“I never make such big decisions so long after sunset and so far from dawn.”

Sound familiar? A stern-looking House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy read that line straight into the camera, portraying his political counterpart on the fictional Netflix series, House of Cards.

NowThis News asked McCarthy and other lawmakers to read actual lines from the main character played by Kevin Spacey, the dangerous and conniving House Majority Whip Francis Underwood.

The video also features the acting works of Rep. Jim Clyburn, Rep. Trey Gowdy, Rep. Donna Edwards, Rep. Jeff Duncan and Sen. Tim Scott.

Season Two promises to continue its path down to the dark underbelly of the Washington political scene, following the power-hungry couple Rep. Underwood and his wife Claire, portrayed by Robin Wright, as they try to seize the vice presidency with a no-mercy attitude on the way to the top of the food chain.

The next season of House of Cards – in its entirely– premieres Friday on Netflix.

You might recognize a familiar face in Season Two. MSNBC’s own Hardball host Chris Matthews makes a cameo on the hit show.
