Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was seen walking today in Houston, mere months after sustaining a bullet to the head. After leaving her rehab center, Giffords boarded a plane bound for Florida to see her husband's space shuttle launch.

The raw video is a little spotty, but you can see the Congresswoman walking up the stairs with some assistance. This marks her first public appearance since the deadly Tucson shooting.

In Cape Canaveral, she'll watch as her husband Mark Kelly participates in another takeoff of significant magnitude: the space shuttle Endeavor's final mission.

Throughout her rehabilitation period, attending the event was eyed as an ambitious goal. Barring any major setbacks, all systems are go.

She was gravely injured after the January 8 shooting spree that killed six and injured 13.On a related note, NBC's Law & Order: L.A. started filming an episode in which a female politician gets shot during a public appearance. No coincidence there.
