First Word: Texas legislature begins special session

In another special session for the Texas Legislature called by Gov. Rick Perry, Republicans are hoping to pass the the anti-abortion measure that State Sen. Wendy Davis famously defeated last week in a 11-hour filibuster. A rally to advocate for Texas women’s health has begun on the steps of the state capitol. Over 6,500 people have signed up to attend.
