Stories of compassion such as the one involving 103-year-old Vita Lee and her 83-year-old daughter are much needed in a time marked by mortgage foreclosures and crippling unemployment. Deutsche Bank ordered an eviction of the two women from their Atlanta home which they have shared for 53 years after a dispute over a second mortgage taken out years ago by another family member. However, when the Fulton County sheriff's deputies arrived at the home and saw the condition of the two women, they admirably decided to give the women a break and cancel the eviction. Consider it an early birthday present for Ms. Lee whose 104th birthday is just three weeks way. The incident left her daughter distraught and she had to be rushed to the hospital. But, Vita Lee says she wasn't worried when deputies showed up to her home explaining, "I knew that they know what they were doing. God don't let them do wrong." While Lee hopes to keep her home for now, she told the deputies on Tuesday, "when I'm gone you all can come back and do whatever they want to." — By Skivjana Neza
