Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report has temporarily suspended production because of an emergency in Stephen Colbert’s family.

Comedy Central created speculation about the show when audience members who planned to attend last night’s taping were sent notices from the show, telling them the taping was cancelled. Last night’s show planned to have Claire Danes from Showtime’s “Homeland” as a guest and the author Susan Cain. Comedy Central spokesman, Steve Albani, emailed this statement:

“Due to unforeseen circumstances, the show will air repeat episodes on Wednesday, February 15 and Thursday, February 16.”

A repeat episode will air tonight, and Colbert is expected to resume production soon, perhaps as early as next week.
