After weeks of fending off multiple sexual harassment allegations and sinking poll numbers, Herman Cain is trying to revive his message. The campaign released an animated ad to help explain his proposed tax policy, the so-called 9-9-9 plan.
Not to be confused with the video game SimCity, with which Cain’s 9-9-9 tax plan shares an eerie similarity, Cain’s cartoon features a tax code “monster” to represent the federal tax code. According to the voiceover, it’s “a dorky mechanical monster held together with a bunch of tattered red tape and driven by squirrelly bureaucrats.” It touts the 9-9-9 plan as “simple enough to vanquish the ineffective bureaucrats that lurk in the dark crannies of complexity.” It also shows President Obama flying around on a tiny prop plane, presumably representing those “bureaucrats.”
The nearly six-minute ad pushes “transparency” as the “cornerstone” of 9-9-9. Perhaps, in an effort to be transparent himself, today Cain warned everyone to brace for another accusation, this time of an extramarital affair.
Seems like this cartoon might only provide a temporary diversion.
