Bill Clinton ‘tickled’ by Perry’s candidacy

Updated

Speaking at an event in New York today, former President Bill Clinton said he “got tickled by watching Governor Perry announce” his candidacy. He joked, “He’s a good looking rascal.”

Clinton pointed out the irony of Perry running for the nation’s highest public office while railing against the feds on his tea party platform to downsize government.

“He’s saying ‘Oh, I’m going to Washington to make sure that the federal government stays as far away from you as possible — while I ride on Air Force One and that Marine One helicopter and go to Camp David and travel around the world and have a good time.’ I mean, this is crazy.”

We’ll take a closer look at Perry’s record tonight on the show with Last Word guest host Chris Hayes.
