On the ground with the New Hampshire primary
Democratic candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders was the projected winner in the New Hampshire primary, the nation’s first of the 2016 presidential race, on Tuesday, February 9. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton came in second in the contest after eking out a win over Sanders in the Iowa caucuses.
Republican front-runner Donald Trump was the projected New Hampshire winner on the Republican side after taking second place in Iowa to Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.
Both Democrat and Republican candidates flooded the Granite State immediately following the Iowa caucuses the week prior, holding rallies, delivering stump speeches, participating in town halls and making their cases to be their party’s nominee.
