Fans of Ed Schultz and the Ed Schultz Radio show know Big Eddie has never forgotten his roots in Fargo, North Dakota. So it’s no surprise that the Fargo-Moorehead Forum has Ed Schultz as one of their nominees for the North Dakota Rough Rider Award.

The award was established in 1961 to recognize “present or former North Dakotans who have been influenced by this state in achieving national recognition in their fields of endeavor, thereby reflecting credit and honor upon North Dakota and its citizens,” according to the North Dakota governor’s website.

Thirty-eight Rough Riders have been named, including agriculture businessman Ronald D. Offutt, who was inducted into this select group last month.

It’s up to the governor, the secretary of state and director of the state Historical Society to decide who gets in.

The Forum has put together a bracket system (NCAA Basketball tournament style) for their readers to choose a prominent North Dakotan (past or present) to submit for the Governor’s approval. Bottom line: vote for Big Eddie. The deadline for this round is October 9th. Ed is in the Newsmakers bracket and his first round opponent is Sitting Bull.

Vote now through Oct. 9, with the second round starting Oct. 10. Each Monday a new bracket will be posted through Oct. 31.

The winner will be announced Nov. 7.

We don’t promise that the winner of our brackets will be fast-tracked to the governor’s desk, but if you don’t vote, you can’t complain.
