Blog Extra: Despite a surge in the Iowa caucus polls, GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum tells msnbc host Ed Schultz he welcomes tough questions about his Senate record, including support for earmarks and the infamous "Bridge to Nowhere."

Texas Gov. Rick Perry hammered the former Pennsylvania senator yesterday for being a "prolific earmarker" who "loaded up on Pennsylvania pork" during his time in Congress.

"You know I love Iowa pork but I hate Washington pork," Perry said to laughter from a crowd of about 50 at a coffee shop in Washington, Iowa.  "And Sen. Santorum, he loaded up his bills with Pennsylvania pork. And he even voted for the Alaska Bridge to Nowhere."
