How did Republicans get where they are today with Paul Ryan? They lied. They lied about everything: bailouts, health care (repeal and replace) and jobs, jobs, jobs!!!
They lied to the Tea Party that they were a populist party that had the best interest of the middle class at heart, knowing full well that when elected they would abandon all concern for them and pursue their normal agenda: tax cuts for the rich, deregulation of big business and banks and extreme abortion measures.
How could they get away with it and why does it matter?
Well, as we know all too well, people don’t pay attention to what Congress does on a day to day basis. Republicans felt pretty sure that they would be able to pursue their agenda under the radar. They were able to lie their way into office so they could dismantle the Great Society programs and give lots of great stuff to their rich buddies.
Well, that all changed Saturday morning when Ryan joined the Romney ticket. Turns out the face of this entire agenda just got thrust on to the biggest stage in politics.
Many people may agree with the agenda, many will oppose it. What’s clear now, is they won’t be able to hide that agenda anymore.
