Residents in Alabama and Mississippi woke up to a roundhouse kick of politics earlier this week when they were greeted by a robocall from Newt’s loudest celebrity endorsement: the one and only “Walker, Texas Ranger” himself - Chuck Norris.

Newt named Chuck his “Secretary of Attack” back in January, but it’s not until Chuck’s robocall that we discover his first target: President Obama. In what I find to be the best visual of the 2012 primary season so far, Chuck proclaims that Newt Gingrich would beat President Barack Obama in hand to hand contact. Go on… imagine it. You’re welcome.

So just how important is Chuck to Newt’s campaign? Well it appears Chuck has already jabbed his way into Newt’s Conservative Dream Team. In last week’s press release photo, Newt put Chuck right next to Gov. Rick Perry, Herman Cain, former Sen. Fred Thompson, Michael Reagan and state Rep. Linda Upmeyer. My only argument – Chuck should have been in front.

And lucky for us, Newt didn’t stop there. He decided to come up with a Chuck Norris Fact of his own and tweeted:

Ah, a Chuck Norris stare down… the obvious answer to our country’s energy efficiency problem.

Now, before we go on and snicker at Newt’s celebrity endorsement, I must give credit where it’s due. Chuck is politically active and a published novelist. His book, Black Belt Patriotism: How to reawaken America, depicts a photo of Chuck mid-Karate stance… and he’s in a black belt - so you know it’s a legitimate take on the current political landscape in America.

Not since Snooki’s endorsement of John McCain have I ever been so giddy over a celebrity endorsement.

Let’s end with the tagline created by Newt’s own campaign: Chuck Norris Doesn’t Endorse. He Makes Reality.

What do you think – Newt may have lost Alabama and Mississippi last night, but can Chuck Norris roundhouse some life back into Newt’s Campaign?
