On the Ed Show, the Nation’s John Nichols talked about the failed Wisconsin recall.

This was an experiment in the laboratory of democracy for both sides that will help define where we go.

For Republicans… [it was] about big money and a powerful lesson for every state in this country. You can repurpose a failed governor as a credible candidate.

For labor unions and Democrats,  there’s a powerful lesson. They did not do a lot of education up front about what a recall is. Polling showed that people did not like the idea of doing a recall; nor did they do enough education on collective bargaining.

Adds Ed, “It’s hard to do education when you’re outgunned by $20 million.”
