On August 29 the National Association of free clinics will hold their third free health clinic in New Orleans, Louisiana. Your generous donations make these clinics possible.
To make a donation, or to learn about volunteering or attending the clinic, visit their website at FREECLINICS.US. You can also text the word “health” to 50555 to make a ten dollar donation by cell phone.
If you don’t know what a free clinic IS… well, let us help you out there. From the NACF website:
Free clinics are volunteer-based, safety-net health care organizations that provide a range of medical, dental, pharmacy, and/or behavioral health services to economically disadvantaged individuals who are predominately uninsured.
Free clinics are 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations, or operate as a program component or affiliate of a 501(c)(3) organization. Entities that otherwise meet the above definition, but charge a nominal fee to patients, may still be considered free clinics provided essential services are delivered regardless of the patient’s ability to pay.
Bottom line: it’s medical help for people who would not otherwise get it. It’s help that literally saves lives.
We are about two thirds of the way there on fundraising to make the New Orleans clinic happen. We need a total of $350,000 to get this thing done and get people the health care they desperately need.
