Five years ago this Sunday, the reckless practices of greedy Wall Street firms sent our nation into the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression. The top 1% income earners have almost fully recovered, while the middle class has lagged far behind. But there is hope in California, Gov. Jerry Brown raised taxes on the wealthy and the legislature just agreed to raise the minimum wage.

Tonight on the The Ed Show at 5pET (4pCT/3pMT/2pPT), live from New York on MSNBC, Ed Schultz looks at how the Golden State's liberal utopia could pave the way for a better America.

Ed also takes on the right's fight against Obamacare, Michele Bachmann's claim that God is a Republican, paves the path to resurgence in Detroit and gives Fox & Friends' Gretchen Carlson the farewell she deserves.

And of course, Ed will answer your questions.

Here's tonight's guest list:

  • David Cay Johnston, columnist for Reuters, Pulitzer Prize winner, author of "Perfectly Legal" and "Free Lunch"
