Economy added just 69,000 jobs in May

The economy added a paltry 69,000 jobs in May, the Labor Department reported Friday morning. That’s well below even the modest predictions most analysts had been making this week. And following two previous months of disappointing gains, it confirms that the recovery being touted earlier in the year appears to be losing steam.

The unemployment rate ticked up to 8.2%.
