Allen West also blames the Holocaust on gun control

It seems Joe the Plumber (also known as Samuel Wurzelbacher) isn’t the only one pushing the idea that gun control laws contributed to the Holocaust.

Buzzfeed reports that Allen West “told a crowd at a campaign stop in 2010 that gun control in Germany was essentially responsible for the Holocaust.”

“In 1930, there was a gentleman in Germany who took away private gun ownership and you know what happened to that population,” West says in the video. “You must be well informed and well armed, because this government we have right now is a tyrannical government.”

Last Monday Wurzelbacher released a campaign video that echoed similar statements.

“In 1939, Germany established gun control. From 1939 to 1945, six million Jews and seven million others unable to defend themselves were exterminated,” Wurzelbacher says.

West represents Florida’s 22nd congressional district and endorsed Wurzelbacher in April. Wurzelbacher is challenging Democratic Representative Marcy Kaptur for the House seat in Ohio’s ninth district.

“One of the great things about Joe is that he represents the genuineness of the American people. Someone who has served in the military, and now is trying to answer the call to serve at a greater level,” West said.
