It wasn’t the “death penalty,” but was it just as bad? The NCAA handed down enormous sanctions this morning that include: a $60 million fine, a four-year postseason ban, a loss scholarships, and the vacating of all wins dating back to 1998. NCAA President Mark Emmert says that the $60 million - equivalent to one year’s revenue for the Penn State football program - will be placed into a newly-created endowment for victims of childhood sexual abuse.
NCAA Executive Committee Chairman Ed Ray said that “the fundamental chapter of this horrific story should focus on the innocent children and and the powerful people who let them down.”
CBS Sports’ Bruce Feldman and NBC’s Michael Isikoff both joined Chuck this morning as the decision was being handed down, to go through what the NCAA’s decision means for Penn State.
